Full Moon for Baby Chloe

The time have arrived where baby Chloe will meet most of her relatives on her full moon or in chinese we called 'Man Yek'. On this day, she will have her first hair cut and nails clipped. And not forgetting wearing her new cloth and not forgetting her 'bling bling' :) While the baby is beeing groomed, the father will go out and deliver red eggs and chicken to the mother's side of the family. This symbolise that baby Chloe have reach a month old.

Later that evening, the baby's family were invited to the house to celebrate Chloe's Man Yek. Most of the guests bring gift for the baby and the gift look so cute and tiny. Unfortunately, Chloe's was a bit moody that night as she keep on crying, so the parents decide to put her in bed and sleep. The guest will have to tip toe to the room just to see her..hehe..

The night went well and it's good to mingle around with our new relatives.

Food!! Food!! Food!!

In this upcoming few days, I will be stuffed with food and more food!

Saturday, 29 Spetember
I will be attending a wedding reception at Orchid Garden. Imagine the food serve in a chinese wedding. There will be like 8 dishes! Orchid Garden Hotel is really popular with their food and facilities for wedding reception.

Sunday, 30 September
It's my niece, Chloe Yung 1 month old 'birthday'. In Chinese culture, a baby's first month birthday calls for a celebration. Proud parents introduce their latest addition to friends and relatives by holding a red egg and ginger party. Lysee or "lucky money" in red envelopes is often given to baby boys, while girls may receive expensive jewelry. The guests don't leave empty handed, either. The parents hand out red-dyed eggs, symbolizing happiness and the renewal of life.

Parents may also use the brightly colored eggs to announce the birth; an even number of eggs are sent out for a boy, and an odd number to announce a baby girl.

Monday, 1 October
We will be having a birthday dinner. It's my dad's advanced 60th Birthday :) Wishing my dad a Wonderful 60th Birthday. The actual birthday is on 3 October but since we will be moving house on that day, I'm sure we don't have the time to celebrate it. In Chinese believe that, it's good to move or do any activities at a proper day so that the moving or the activities will be running smoothly. It's our 'pantang' also that, it's best to celebrate the birthday in advance rather than belated.

We normally chipped in for our parents' birthday. This year, we will be getting dad this season Liverpool FC jersey, a pair of new shoes and a belt :) I'm not afraid to mentioned the birthday present in here as my dad doesn't know much about internet and doesn't know about blogging :)

And to those who is celebrating their birthday in October... HAPPY BIRTHDAY ^_^

Moving House Part II

Went back to parents place and help them to packed their stuffs. My mom asked me to packed my stuffs in my room but I told her, there isn't much to packed. But sekali I take out all my stuffs, I just can't believe the things i have in my room!

There were so many things which I can't even remember where I got it from..hehe.. Unfortunately I have to throw away some of the items although it is still good. Sad eh...I even dig out some of my toys like MASK, Centurions, Transformers and few mores..Don't know what I'm gonna do with it. Probably give it to my cousin's children. I just dun have any place to keep it anymore. It's either go into the bin or donate to some other people.

I manage to take few before shots of the house and rooms before it's been cleared out. Am thinking of posting few of the pics but I LEFT THE CAMERA BACK AT MY PARENTS' PLACE!! Urrgghhhh!! Will have it back tomorrow.
Kinda sad to think that I will never stay in that house anymore. 20 years of history in that house.

Moving House

How would you feel if you have to move out of the house after staying there for over 2 decades? That's what will happen to me in a 2 weeks time. My parents decide to move up to bandar and rent the house in KB out to a contractor. The rent is really good though. Then again, who am I to decide, that house belong to my parents and it will be good for them to move to Bandar since all my relatives are in bandar. They won't feel bored :)

It's really sad to see my room to be cleared out and occupied by a total stranger. Sad to think back all the good and bad memories that I have had in that house. I'm sure we will not move in to that house anymore. I'm sure everyone have this sentimental feeling of letting go of something that have been with them for such a long time.

I will be taking leave to help out my parents to pack and move the stuffs to bandar. It's not going to be easy though. Will keep you guys update on it.

Test Your Patience During Ramadhan

It's the time of the year where muslims all over the world fast for a month. They normally start to fast around 4am and break their fast around 6pm. I am really amaze to see how they can stand from hunger and thirst for such a long hours. I think they are used to it since they are taught to fast since early age. I did tried to fast once and NO NO NO..can't do it! hehe

This is the time as well to test your patience especially for road users! But I don't think this is practise for some road users in Brunei. I still see people driving so fast and trying to get one place to another place in a break neck speed.

Yesterday, I encounter a near miss accident from one irresponsible driver at the roundabout. He enter the wrong lane(outer lane) to get to the right junction is one thing, he even honk me when i try to enter a junction on my left. I was in the outer lane. I just don't understand why he honk me knowing that he was in the wrong lane! That show how some road users still have problem using the roundabout. Once again, here is the right way to use the roundabout. I got this from my previous post.

Father - Job Description

I have been looking for a hilarious job description for a father but unfortunately I can't find any. Instead I found this job description for a father at Radical Living by Seth Barnes.

If you're a teenager, you can easily pick out all the ways in which your father is letting you down. But what does a good father look like? What roles does he fulfill?

Protector - This role encompasses our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual protection. As children we particularly need protection, and we need to have our values, purities, and our honor protected into adulthood. A father not only protects his children from harm, but protects their hearts and minds as well.

Provider - This is perhaps one of our more instinctual roles of a father. A father initially provides necessities. He also creates an environment for growth through love and encouragement. We look to our fathers to provide for us what we may not be able to provide for ourselves while teaching us how to eventually become independent.

Counselor - A father is a guide. He directs his children toward the path in life that promises to fit them best. A father who has his child's best interest in mind will gain the trust of his child as a counselor. This where the "sacred no" and the "sacred yes" come in.

Friend - It is said that a child learns how to interact with others on the lap of a father. We seek a sort of friendship with our father that teaches us what friendship is. A healthy friendship with a father gives us boundaries and helps us understand what is safe and what is not.

Here are a couple of rules of thumb: If your father failed you in any of these roles, then you will be searching to compensate for that deficiency in other relationships.

If your father failed to give you a good model, then you will have to work hard to compensate for that poor modeling as you raise your own children. We tend to do what we've seen modeled.

I personally realised that how our dad and mom have sacrifice so much of their time, money and energy to keep us going, educate us and become to a person that I am now. When I was young, I always get angry and swear behind my parents if I get scold or punish. All I want is fun and freedom. All I think at that time was why are they doing this to me? Why do they hate me and punish me? Am I the black sheep in the family?

As i grew older and when they send me abroad to do my degree, I begin to realise that what my parents did was for my own good. They have save so much just to educate us and hope that we get our degree. They have stop traveling and even stop treating themselves with good stuffs. My dad does 2 jobs just to get extra incomes to pay for our fees. It is not easy to earn money to support 3 of their sons’ education abroad.

And now all of us have graduated and have a job, it's time for Mom and Dad to relax and enjoy life to their fullness.

Pelancaran Minggu Tenaga..&..BABY!

There were so many government activities happening for the past week. Today, I attended the Majlis Pelancaran Minggu Tenaga and was held at Pusat Persidangan Antarabangsa, Berakas aka International Conventional Centre.

The guest of honour was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince. That was my first time to see the Prince in a very close view but didn't get the chance to shake his hand. The ceremony started with the national anthem (which back memory during school time where we have to sing every morning), then the recite of some verse of the Al-Quran. The opening speech was presented by the Ministy of Energy. Then followed by the Crown Prince with his speech.....

Let's skip that part! The most important part is that I have just received a sms from my dad. A very good news that I have been waiting eversince I posted my Blog on New Member To The Family! YES..my sis finally gave birth to a baby girl after 12 hours of waiting in the delivery room!

I was so excited and relieve to hear that the baby and the mother are doing fine. She gave birth to a 2.98kg baby at 2.40pm. Being an uncle for the first time, I was so excited and can't wait to see my niece. Straight after work...well..at 4.30pm sharp, I just leave the office and straight to the hospital.

When I saw the baby, I just can't express my feeling but to welcome the baby to the family :) I just can't stop staring at the baby, her small body, hand, feet and everything. Everything is so tiny and cute. Every bit of what the baby did was so cute too, like sneezing, coughing and yawning. The most amazing bit is when she open her tiny little eyes and stares directly at your eyes and probably saying..."who is that silly person staring at me all the time!!"...hehe.

The baby and mother are still in the hospital. The mother is still recovering and hope to be release by Thursday.

Perjumpaan Muhibah Penerangan 2007

As you all know JKR have just celebrated their 100th Anniversary. An exhibition of all JKR's Consultant, Contractor and other related to JKR were held at JKR Main HQ. There are about 30 booths displayed. I was suppose to be there to represent my company but unfortunately I have to attend the Perjumpaan Muhibah Penerangan 2007 for Mukim Liang. We were asked to join with one of the JKR departments to answer the questions raised by the public in Mukim Liang.

We arrived there aroun 8.30am and I can see few displays from the Police Deapartment, Fire Department, Army and some other government sectors. The event start with Question and Answer session between the government sectors and the village heads of each area in Mukim Liang. Lots of questions have been raised from low water pressure to poison wild boar. hehe.. quite interesting. But it took the whole morning for the Q&A session. Once it's finish, no one from the public visit any of the displays as it's already 12:45pm. We feel a bit disappointed but it's nice to see that the government sectors take concern of the public.
